I think it's ok to have financial goals on medium, but it should never be at the expense of good, compelling writing. You sort of have to find a happy medium between writing for the sake of writing and building an audience and gaining recognition

Yes Thomas, it is about balance. It's OK to make money from writing, but gaming the algorithm is not enough.
